Ministry of Care

Director: Deaconess Dorothy Cunningham

“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient  in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;  distributing to the needs of the saints, given  to hospitality.”  Romans 12:10-13New King James Version

The purpose of the “Mt. Zion Ministry of Care” is to ensure that all those within the congregation are cared for in the event of a physical, financial, emotional, or spiritual crisis in their life that would require additional prayer and care from the congregation or pastoral staff.  When a member is hurting, all should bear their burden (Galatian 6:2) and be a blessing.

Working alongside the Pastor, ministerial staff and Deacon Ministry, who are called to the ministry of helping people, helps them to fulfill God’s calling on their lives. When members effectively care for one another, the pastor and staff can focus on the ministry of preaching and teaching the Word.

This is why church leaders can’t do it all—and for that matter, neither can a select few volunteers. Instead, it takes the whole church to care for the whole church. Relationships take time, and the process of nurturing isn’t fully accomplished with one card, email, text, or even a phone call. It’s done with consistent, regular personal contact and follow-up.
