Our deacons and deaconesses serve the Lord through benevolence work, visiting the sick, being alert to the spiritual needs of the congregation for the purposes of promoting unity within the church, freeing the pastoral staff to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word, and facilitating the spread of the gospel.

The Bible references servants multiple times. Many verses refer to servants of the Lord and others the appointed servant (deacon), however each verse pertains to the deacon of the church. For more refer to Acts 6:1-6; 1 Timothy 3; Matthew 23:11; John 12:26 (New International Version, ©2010)
